General Info
Personality: Angry and bitter at times though he hides it well. He is enslaved, forced to forever serve the will of another. Slowly he has come to forgo his own thoughts on what he wants and instead focus upon the wants of his mistress. Once he was a warm man, kind, a leader in many ways. But time changes many things. Still his confidence and strength hold firm, he will not let his pride fall, knowing well if he does that she will truly own him.

Diarmad does what he can to hold true to the beliefs long ago instilled in him. He is a man of honor; his word is in fact his bound. He does not see any use for lies and prefers to be up front with those around him. That however, does not always hold true with his mistress.

Through and through his is a protector, a guard, and sees the safety of others as his own responsibility. Part of him still holds heavy guilt for the deaths of the past and though he could have done nothing to prevent them, he spends his days constantly on alert and prepared. He will not let himself be blind sided again as he once was.

Though most see him as approachable and a friendly figure to go to, Diarmad often is still at a loss on how to deal with the world he is currently in and those in it. While he had been a part of it for centuries now he has not forgot how life used to be and often longs for the simplicity of the past.

He is kind unless given reason to not to be, but he is not overly trusting. He has a natural wariness of all people that he hides well. He does not let that prevent him from protecting and doing his job.
Birth Location: Scotland
Family: Dead besides his Niece; Rebecca.
Weakness: Sunlight, holy, damage to either halves of his heart, spinal breakage, left vulnerable in stone form. He does not often rest and pushes himself to his limits. He has a strong dislike of shifting into his stone form now due to a hundred years trapped within it.
Magical Abilities: Able to calm animals, taught to him by his family. Due to being turned he gained moderate telekinetic abilities and charms though he does not use them.
Any Training: Trained as a warrior and guard to his clan. Skilled with the sword and practices still with it as often as he is allowed. Is well versed with other blades and weaponry though he does not believe guns a fair form of fight and does not use them.
Special Skills: Enhanced speed, strength, senses, healing; though grievous wounds can only be healed while in stone form and all others heal faster in that form as well. Can deny his stone form when the sun is up so long as he is not in direct sunlight. Shadows and shade is enough to keep him from turning though it drains him if he’s near sun for long periods and doesn’t turn to stone.
Background
Personal Information:
Diarmad was born to a gargoyle father and gargoyle mother, both of which cared greatly for their son. His life among his clan was peaceful. They worked together to guard the castle that they occupied, humans living among them with no fear and no care for what manner of beast filled the night. They knew they were protected, guarded by the gargoyle clan. They cared greatly for there human counterparts, working as a large family rather then serving them or simply taking home to the castle roofs. They lived among the humans not separate from them.

He trained among both humans and gargoyle, trained until he was of age to be the trainer. He took his task seriously, as all of his kind did. They were the protectors of not only the castle but the land. By night they took to the air, constantly on the lookout for threats to the family they had been a part of for centuries.

The humans came and went, new born, the old dieing, but the gargoyles stayed true and through the passing years the ties between the two families stayed strong.

The ties that bound them were so strong that at times it was offered for a gargoyle guard to take on a human wife, an offering back then for all the years of protection. Many gargoyles took families in such manner. Diarmad was to do the same. Though most were arranged his was to be one desired. The human woman was one that he was close to, one that often distracted him from his work and when mentioned she would only smile.

Cora.

That union however, never came to pass. The lands peaceful for so long were to be thrust into a bloody battle that would change their lives forever. War found its way to the area, war that was only for the humans and the land they owned but the clan would not stay still within it and not lend aid. The humans were outnumbered, out matched. The attackers were fierce and had no mercy. Traveling through the lands, taking all that they came upon. Hungry and destroying any that stood in their path. They were unstoppable so it seemed, but this did not sway the gargoyles. They would stay, fight, protect as they had for centuries before this moment.

Diarmad was scarcely two hundred at the time and though young still compared to many gargoyles he fought in the front lines, unwilling to back down, unwilling to fall, Diarmad fought bravely. While others feared the worst he refused to let his thoughts fall to such darkness. If in the midst of battle one believed they would fall, then they would.

The battles ragged on, weeks turning to months of nothing but constant clashing of weapons and bloodshed. Diarmad fought on even as his family began to fall dead around him. Stepping over the fallen he and his brethren fought on. It was not in them to quit, to fall back and admit defeat. They had lives to protect; those that had sought to flee the slaughter, those unable to fight.

One battle was particularly gruesome and dragged on through the darkness of night to the near dawn. Diarmad and his knew they had to retreat to the shadows, to hide from the sun, but he was denied this need. They all were. Hand grabbed, many risking their lives at his blade to get a hold of the gargoyle. Diarmad fought against them all but their numbers were too high, wave after wave cut down and still their numbers filled the battlefield.

Held down, bound, they refused to let him free. Arms and legs pinned by blades, restraining him as a dagger found home painfully within his chest. He fell only as they released their hold, collapsing to his knees and it was there where the sun turned him to stone, there where the suns damning rays stilled his last dieing seconds. The men were confused though wings and claws gave sight to beasts they had never fought before none were prepared for the sight of grown men turning to stone by the sun. Shouts began to ring out, cries of the land being damned. Bodies were to be left, the castle was to be destroyed to rid the world of its curse. Body’s lay there to the battlefield…left to rot. Diarmad's form was not touched, left there though one in the shadows watching the battle lingered while all the others left with what they dared to risk taking from the battlefield.

She'd been watching, watching the gargoyles, the bloodshed, the wars. She who had come to save him…and damn him….

Dawn did not come for Diarmad, one was found to cast him into an eternal stone prison until way could be found to preserve what was left of his heart. A hundred years passed, a hundred years locked within that stone shell. A hundred years trapped within his own mind….vaguely aware…

When he awoke it was to darkness and pain, pure and agonizing. Drapes were drawn closed to lock out the sunlight that had cracked his stone shell, leaving him with no light to place the shapes around him. But the pain was too deep for thoughts beyond it; his near scream was drowned out to his own ears, muffled by that century of near death.

But to all others it rang out clear and echoing…

Around him images began to clear slowly though the pain lingered, a steady aching within his chest. When his hand rose to touch his chest he found it free of blade but also found it bleeding and wounded. Voices from the shadows began to explain. Words of charms, enchantments, how he had a heart but it only beat half way. It was then that the woman stepped forward. Holding the wounded piece of his heart, stone still with a dagger still piercing it. A touch to it made him shudder in pain, a jerk of the blade made him scream....

Trapped by her, by the one that held his heart quiet literally in her hands. She controls that piece of him and as long as she does, he can do her no harm. Linked to her, so long as she lives the charm that keeps that part of his heart stone stays in tact. If she dies the heart will crumble from its stone shell at dawn and he will die with its revealing.

Though that tie was not enough....not enough to torment him by at all. Not enough to claim him truly as her own. Her knight. Her guard. Her gargoyle. She turned him, forced blood down an unwilling throat, bound and tied much as he had been when the blade first took home in his chest. Her slave and her fledging, he loathes her for it.

Centuries passed and that loathing did not change. She took away all that which he’d held pride in. She stripped him of freedom….she stole the honorable death he would have earned among his family, his clan.

In its place he was given centuries of being her personal guard. Doing what she wished when she willed it. To question was to bring pain upon him and though he denies much of what she sought to make him do….blood stains his hand by her will that he can not forgive himself for.

Where she goes, Diarmad is bound and forced to follow. Her path to Halcyon brought him in kind. But for once it was an act, and a destination, that didn’t bring a subtle sneer to his lips.

There he now resides with her. Teaching, attempting to find solace in a home so similar to the one he long ago held. Much has happened since their arrival…and more is to come.
